Description
This artwork depicts a vibrant tropical scene. In the foreground, two majestic palm trees stand proudly, their green fronds contrasting with warm shades of ochre and beige in the background. Buildings with geometric shapes and shades of white and blue evoke a sun-drenched seaside resort. Dynamic lines and repeating patterns add captivating texture, while pops of bright color draw the eye and infuse the composition with energy. Decorative elements, such as stripes and abstract patterns, enrich the painting, lending it an atmosphere that is both relaxed and sophisticated. Overall, the artwork manages to capture the essence of an exotic getaway, where nature and architecture coexist harmoniously.
Presentation
Alec Cumming graduated in 2007 from Norwich University of the Arts with a degree in Fine Art. He has enjoyed success with a number of major solo shows in London, throughout the UK and abroad. The artist works between studios in Norwich and Delhi.
In 2012, he was the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition with the British Council in India. At the India Art Fair 2016, he was selected as 'the one to watch' by the art critics alongside G R Iranna and Francesco Clemente. In 2017, Alec was selected for a Arts Council funded Residency with Dyad Creative in conjunction with Museums in India and the UK; in this space he made his monumental painting project 'Dialogues with India', a series of 4m long mural works considering material memory. In 2018, Alec will be showcasing some of this work in LA. Alec's work is held in private, public and corporate collections world-wide.
