Description
This landscape opens onto a verdant plain. Rows of olive trees structure the composition. The eye travels between the hues of ochre and green. In the distance, arid reliefs close the horizon under a pale sky.
The artist uses acrylic to fix precise visual impressions. Each brushstroke reflects a work of memory. Nature becomes here the witness of a presence and an identity. The line remains sober.
The minimalist approach emphasizes the relationship between man and his land. The repetition of the trees creates a calm rhythm. The light unifies the space.
This creation dates from 2026. It explores the transformation of natural spaces in the face of human interventions. The chromatic palette remains natural. The painting ends with a discreet signature in the bottom right.
Presentation
Rafat Asad is a Palestinian artist whose work explores the Palestinian landscape, memory, and the relationship between people and their surroundings. Working primarily through painting, he combines abstract and figurative approaches with a minimalist visual language. His landscapes are often drawn from places he has seen and remembered, reflecting both a personal connection to the land and the restrictions that affect access to it. He also works across photography, video, performance, and light and sound installations.
Born in Nablus in 1974, Asad studied Fine Arts with a focus on painting at Al-Najah University, graduating in 1998. His artistic practice has developed through numerous exhibitions, residencies, and workshops in Palestine and internationally. He also co-founded and directed Al-Mahatta Gallery, and has been involved in several Palestinian cultural organisations. Asad currently lives and works in Ramallah, where he continues to explore the landscape through painting and other media.
