Description
Serenity is an abstract work from the Emotions series, in which the artist explores a state of inner peace, lightness, and release from tension. The composition is built around a dynamic yet gentle diagonal movement: broad, luminous strokes seem to pass through the space, dissolving heaviness and leaving behind a feeling of air, clarity, and silence. The palette is based on milky white, soft sky-blue, and deep blue tones. These shades evoke associations with wind, water, clouds, and open sky. Dark blue and graphite lines add depth and inner rhythm to the work without disturbing its overall sense of calm. Golden-yellow accents appear like delicate flashes of light quiet and precious, like moments of joy emerging within silence. The impasto acrylic texture enhances the feeling of living movement. The brushstrokes do not simply form an image; they become traces of an inner process: an exhale, acceptance, purification. In this work, serenity is shown not as emptiness or the absence of emotion, but as a mature state after tension has passed when emotions no longer conflict with one another, but come into a soft balance. The painting carries an atmosphere of openness and a bright inner state. It can become a visual pause within an interior a place where the eye can rest and the space is filled with freshness and calm. Serenity is well suited for contemporary light interiors, minimalism, Scandinavian style, Japandi, soft loft, a study, bedroom, living room, relaxation area, or meditation space. It will look especially harmonious on white, milky, light grey, sandy, and cool beige walls, in interiors with natural fabrics, wood, glass, ceramics, and soft lighting.
Presentation
Elena Russkikh is a contemporary Russian artist working in naive figurative painting, naive landscapes, and still life. Her artistic language is based on simplicity, expressive color, clear composition, and a lively handmade quality. Through familiar images, she explores inner states, silence, joy, presence, and the beauty of everyday life.
At the center of her figurative practice is the female image. In the series “What Women Keep Silent About", women appear in moments of pause, reflection, and quiet dialogue with themselves. In her “Bright Landscapes", nature becomes a space of freedom, light, joy, and openness to life. Her naive still lifes turn to cups, fruit, flowers, and everyday objects, revealing the warmth and poetry of ordinary moments.
Elena deliberately avoids academic precision and perfect geometry. Soft asymmetry, simplified forms, slightly irregular contours, and visible traces of the artist's hand give her works a sense of immediacy and human presence. Color plays a central role, creating the emotional atmosphere of each painting. Her works are conceived not simply as narratives, but as visual spaces that invite the viewer to slow down and experience a particular state.
Elena studied at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University (2003–2008) and continued her artistic education through specialized courses in contemporary painting, interior art, and art marketing, including studies at the Lyudmila Lipovskaya School and the creative studio of Nikolai Balyshov.
She is a member of the Eurasian Art Union and has participated in Russian and international exhibitions in Moscow, Beijing, Phnom Penh, and other exhibition projects. In 2026, her works were presented at the international exhibition “Light of Russia in Beijing" and in projects organized by the Gallerist art gallery.
Elena has received 1st place awards in painting in the 2024 and 2025 editions of the “World Through Mother's Eyes" exhibition competition. Her work was also featured in Art-Agent magazine, Issue 26, in 2026.
Her works are represented on international and Russian online art platforms and are held in private collections.
