Description
Street art takes over an icon of popular culture here. The white and rigid face of the soldier fragments under the effect of saturated colors.
The gesture is fast. The acrylic paint flows freely, creating spontaneous projections on a deep black background.
This dripping technique brings an organic movement to a subject initially frozen. The contrast between electric blue, pink, and orange highlights the contours of the helmet with graphic precision.
The Pop Art aesthetic transforms this portrait into a visual explosion. The vertical drips and lateral splashes suggest a dynamic decomposition of the figure.
This work created in 2022 plays on the opposition between military discipline and the freedom of street art. The composition focuses on the symmetry of the mask, while the paint projections break any rigidity.
Presentation
Arnaud Florentin is a French painter, born in 1978 in Nancy, aka as Flow, he currently lives and works in Nancy.
Flow joined École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, and obained his post-graduation in 2003. Artist-performer, it was impossible for Flow to stop living his passion due to his studies: he continued to paint and do graffiti at the same time.
Flow didn't hesitate to try out several techniques, even through he remained quite attached and good at dripping, a technique where he lets the paint flow to create his work. He was quickly discovered due to his colored paintings in 2000's, the singer Nancy Jazz Pulsation, asked him to create the design cover of her album in 2008.
Due to his recurring presence in several contemporary art fairs, Flow became well-known upto Korea. His works are displayed in several galleries and the artist constantly develops and improves his technique by creating unknown faces of celebrities, but also of vanity and urban landscapes.
In 2015, Flow's work was displayed in many galleries in France and abroad, the same year he planned to finalize his visual for the "Solidays" poster.
