This work is shaped by a play of extreme contrasts.

Deep black meets a light, neutral beige. The composition eschews any nuance. Instead, sharp edges and precise divisions dominate.

Vertical bands give rhythm to the surface. They appear like architectural fragments or abstract silhouettes. The forms expand, break apart, and shift in a dynamic tension. The result is an almost sculptural sense of depth on the two-dimensional surface.

The black areas are not flat. A fine, grainy application of paint lends them an organic materiality. This texture takes the coldness out of the austerity and gives the image a human touch. The composition balances between order and deliberate disruption.

The painting is built up from numerous thin layers of paint consisting of high-quality pigments in an acrylic dispersion. 

The black, impasto sections consist of thicker layers of pigment.

The canvas is high-quality Belgian linen primed by the artist himself, whose texture remains clearly visible beneath the thin layers.

It is delivered on a sturdy wooden stretcher frame. The sides are painted, so no additional frame is required.

The painting is ready to hang.
