Description

The city fragments under an opal sky. The composition plays on a striking chromatic contrast between earthy tones and splashes of pure white. The gaze surveys an urban landscape where architectural rigor fades in favor of poetic abstraction.
The technique relies on the use of technical drawing tools. Graduated rulers and conical perspectives structure the space. The gesture breaks free from the traditional brush to create horizontal strata. These lines evoke facades, bridges, or reflections of water without ever naming them precisely.
A diffused light bathes the upper part of the painting. It descends toward a horizon tinted with ochre and deep burnt orange. This warm palette brings a nostalgic dimension to the scene. The material thickens in the shaded areas to accentuate the relief of the city.
The approach merges the precision of the line with the freedom of the gesture. Geometry meets a captivating luminosity here. The result transforms the urban gray into an inspired vision. The painting ends with touches of brilliant white in the foreground.

Presentation

Bianca Prettau stands out as an artist whose work is deeply rooted in architectural drawing, a discipline that serves as her professional foundation. Her artistic practice transcends simple representations of the urban environment; she achieves a remarkable fusion of technical rigor and poetic sensibility. Her innovative approach allows her to capture a unique essence of urban landscapes, testifying to a personal and singular interpretation.
With a career marked by international exhibitions, B. Prettau has established herself on the world art scene. Her first solo exhibitions, dating back twenty years in Florence, paved the way for growing recognition. Her creations have since been installed in Brussels and in prestigious venues such as MAG Montreux, the Carrousel du Louvre, ART Monaco, and RIAF Rotterdam, as well as at the Contemporary Art Network in New York. This visibility has also been reinforced by publications in renowned magazines in the art, art and interior design and lifestyle spheres, including those of Condé Nast in London.
Prettau’s distinctive technique is distinguished by his use of tools often associated with technical drawing, such as graduation rulers and conical perspective developments. This complex method demonstrates a desire to reinvent the use of brushes, allowing him to generate urban landscapes that are both strange and nostalgic. The results are works where rigorous geometry meets captivating luminosity, revealing an unsuspected beauty in the gray of urban landscapes. Through this approach, Prettau does not simply represent the city, he offers a renewed vision of it, inviting the viewer to rediscover familiar spaces from a different and inspired perspective.
