Description
The line asserts itself with confidence on a neutral grey background. This composition explores the female silhouette through a play of brown and fluid lines. The body unfolds in a supple, almost instinctive posture.
The artist uses blocks of steel blue to model the volumes. The light seems to glide over the skin, creating subtle contrasts. Touches of white and beige lighten the face and the upper body.
The gesture is fast and direct. The material accumulates in places, bringing a tactile relief to the surface. The contour sometimes deviates from the shape to suggest movement and energy.
The balance between the rigor of the background and the freedom of the line creates a controlled visual tension. The figure seems to emerge from the canvas, captured in a moment of introspective rest.
The signature appears discreetly in the lower right corner, anchoring the composition. The whole rests on a harmony of cool tones and earthy shades.
Presentation
François Sauvage is a self-taught artist whose particularity is the modeling of leather. After spending fourteen years in art workshops in Paris, he developed a unique technique that allowed him to shape life-size leather figures. Exhibited and sold all over the world, this particular mastery earned him to collaborate in the renovation of prestigious places where his decoration proposals combined aesthetics and refinement.
Since 2021 he has devoted himself entirely to his passions: clay and painting.
His large-format paintings impose and reveal a palette of colors that are sometimes soothing, playful with a pure lightness, at the same time powerful, deep and sensitive.
