Description
The image captures a suspended moment between structure and horizon from Tangier to Spain. A raw architectural frame opens onto the immensity of a deep blue ocean. The gaze traverses concrete vestiges where symmetrical stairs draw precise geometric lines.
The work on light transforms reality into a plastic composition. Chromatic contrasts accentuate the depth of the sky and the density of the water. Nature discreetly invites itself on the sides with touches of tropical vegetation.
The space becomes a malleable material. The volumes oppose the fluidity of the marine landscape.
This approach invites calm contemplation. The architectural forms serve as a window onto a simplified, almost abstract world.
The balance between the central void and the solidity of the pillars creates a controlled visual tension. The photograph thus explores the relationship between the human imprint and the permanence of natural elements. The whole ends with the sharp detail of the grey concrete steps.
This work from my photographic writing "Sublimations" explores the metamorphoses of the visible.

Presentation
Christian Goetghebeur is a French photographer whose work explores the metamorphoses of the visible through a personal photographic writing, Sublimations.
Starting from photographs rooted in reality, he develops a plastic research where color and light become materials in themselves. Architectures, urban spaces, and human presences constitute the main territories of his exploration. Through chromatic transformations and plays of perception, he brings forth new relationships between forms, volumes, and figures, inviting us to shift our gaze.
His work unfolds notably between France, Morocco, and Guadeloupe, territories where he explores the architectural, human, and cultural singularities.
Since 2022, his photographs have been the subject of several personal exhibitions, notably in Tangier, Casablanca, Marseille, Paris, and Guadeloupe. He has also participated in collective exhibitions in Paris, Luxembourg, and Rabat, notably at the Autumn Salon, at Art Capital at the Grand Palais, and at the German Embassy in Paris.
His works are featured in several public and private collections, including those of the Musée de la Légation Américaine in Tangier, the Bachelot Collection, the city of Pointe-à-Pitre, and the city of Basse-Terre.
