When the Sea Breathes is a unique sculptural painting by Maria Ruisi, created in 2024 through successive layers of acrylic relief, artistic pigments, silver spray and professional protective acrylic medium.
Deep turquoise, petrol blue, emerald green and subtle violet tones form a dense succession of raised waves. Silver passages run across their crests, capturing surrounding light and generating reflections that change according to the viewing angle. The sculpted surface gives the composition an almost physical rhythm, evoking the continuous expansion and withdrawal of the sea.
The artwork may be displayed in two orientations. In portrait position, the forms appear to rise vertically like an energetic marine current. In landscape position, they unfold into a wide, meditative horizon. Each orientation reveals a distinct visual character while preserving the unity of the composition.
Entirely created by hand, the work is protected with a professional acrylic medium offering enhanced resistance to ultraviolet light and environmental humidity. It is presented in its original minimalist white US box, 3 cm deep.
Unique artwork, 1/1. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Abstract Art Gallery and protected by the gallery's lifetime authenticity guarantee. Professional worldwide delivery by DHL Express and dedicated collector assistance available 24/7.
Presentation
Maria Ruisi is a contemporary artist whose work explores balance, light, and depth through abstraction and wall sculpture. Her pieces reside at the boundary between painting and sculpture, where matter comes alive to dialogue with architectural space.
Trained in arts and design in Latvia, Maria Ruisi develops a rigorous practice informed by her background in engineering and visual perception research. This dual approach provides her work with a powerful contemporary presence and profound aesthetic coherence. Each creation is a unique, hand-crafted piece, where sculpted reliefs and pigments interact with light to reveal subtle variations throughout the day. Designed as silent presences, her works enhance prestigious environments, ranging from private collections to interior design and luxury hospitality projects.
