The elegant interior of Le Berre Vevaud, a delicate fusion of minimalism and classicism.

Le Berre Vevaud are an interior architecture duo,  created by friends Raphaël Le Berre and Thomas Vevaud. Since 2008, they have worked on numerous projects for private residences and public spaces such as restaurants and offices. Their signature style? Elegant and minimalist interior spaces with an acute attention and a careful balance between classicism and modernity. Their style is even more evident in their furniture designs which converge all the elements of sophistication and simplicity seen in their interior architecture. Get to know this inspiring duo!

1. Hello Le Berre Vevaud! How would you describe your interior design style and where do you draw inspiration from?

Our style is sophisticated, but not ostentatious or austere due to the bold colors, playful shapes and forms that are predominant in our work. We always try to combine classicism with the present, and with a minimalist aesthetic. Our taste for refined design means we often incorporate touches of modernity mixed with contemporary art and beautiful materials, where the harmony of volumes and lines infer an elegance and timelessness to each room.

Beyond the sleek lines, we like to marry opposing mediums like lacquered and waxed materials, enhanced with soft marble and deep lacquer. Accents of color and texture enhance classic architectural writing and bring an art deco touch to our projects.

Mix minimalism with beautiful materials and art that has a touch of baroque.

2. What was the most challenging design project you have ever done? What challenges did you have to overcome to complete it?

Our Faubourg Saint-Honoré project was undeniably the most challenging for the client's requirements, the technique and the homogeneity of the decorative project. We used a variety of finishes and materials for the fittings, making it a real search for identity, and a pure creation of new finishes by LBV.

3. How do you incorporate artworks into your design work? What links can be established between art and design?

We always try to combine classicism with the present. Our taste for refined design often leads us to creations imbued with modernity mixed with contemporary art and beautiful materials. The harmony of volumes and lines confer elegance and timelessness to the places.

4. Which artists or artistic movements serve as sources of inspiration to you, in regards to both your interior design and in the creation of your sought-after furniture collection?

Our contemporary signature draws inspiration from the Memphis movement and boasts a discreet reminiscence of the decorative art movement. We are also struck by the excellence of the timeless lines and colors of Luis Barragán as well as the modernism of Gio Ponti. We try to renew these influences with modern, sophisticated and sober writing through elegant creations, with a discreet art deco reminiscence.

Modern art and beautiful lighting decorate the space whilst maintaining a sense of minimalism.

5. Are you art collectors yourselves?

We are very big art collectors whether they are big or small pieces, paintings, or collectibles. Our love for art is reflected in our interior design work as well as in the opening of our own gallery. This is a very important moment for us, we have always wanted to share our deep passion for design through a collection and have a space that showcases it beautifully. We both spend a lot of time discovering artists and designers whose reputations are sometimes in the making and enjoy proposing to our clients decorative objects, paintings, photographs during the interior design process. We have dealt in the past with clients who have had incredible artworks – one was even a Banksy

6. Which artistic venue or cultural center anywhere in the world do you find the most inspiring?

We love the rue de Verneuil in Paris, which is where the gallery is based as it is a place full of history.

7. And finally, what advice would you give to someone who wants to update their home without breaking the bank?

For us, using different colors and paints to change a space is the perfect way to renovate a home at a low cost.
