This is a series of printed canvases inspired by scientific models of the forms of the living, to reveal aspects of the invisible plant (pollen grains). Produced through a programmed printing process and serving the omnipresent theme in Ivan Murit's work, this exhibition is a questioning of the nature of the image and the autonomous systems that model natural phenomena.
A work of digital and organic visual research, "his work evokes a child's reverie as he leaves his fountain pen to soak his blotter. The installation is based on capillarity. The image is transformed into points, each having a temporality. Then the plotter (machine) is going to put in contact the bleach and the fabric during the given time. Electron microscope pictures appear. These pollen grains are on the edge between the analog world and digital images."
Ivan Murit manipulates shapes and colors through computer programming. He imagines systems that create forms. His research in the visual field and his interests in computational biology have led him to use algorithms drawn from scientific models of nature, questioning the ways in which we produce our images in an age of automation. His works often take the form of manufacturing processes or even tools.
