Description
Presentation
Nasty, born in 1975 in Paris, is an emblematic figure of the French graffiti movement. He began painting in the Paris metro in the late 1980s, quickly distinguishing himself with a colorful aesthetic and explosive lettering. In 1990, he joined the AEC (Artiste En Cavale) collective and established himself as one of the major players in the Parisian urban scene. From 1992 onwards, his works were presented in gallery exhibitions, notably alongside JonOne and Psyckoze , marking his entry into the contemporary urban art scene.
Recognized for his unique use of urban media, Nasty incorporates RATP enamel signs and authentic metro maps into his works, perpetuating the raw and authentic spirit of graffiti. These recycled media have become emblematic of his artistic approach, highlighting a deep attachment to public space as a canvas for expression. He has exhibited in prestigious galleries such as the Galerie Brugier-Rigail in Paris and the Kolly Gallery in Zurich, consolidating his international reputation.
A versatile artist, Nasty has collaborated with major brands such as Coca-Cola, Monoprix, Annick Goutal, and La Maison du Chocolat, helping to integrate the aesthetic of street art into the retail world. He also participates in artoy projects with the brands Kidrobot and Toy2R, blending urban culture and contemporary design.
His works are regularly auctioned at renowned houses such as Artcurial and Drouot, and were highlighted in a documentary broadcast on Arte in 2009. A key figure in French urban art, Nasty continues to evolve the language of graffiti with an approach that is both faithful to his roots and turned towards new aesthetic horizons.
