Les photographies de Manuel ne sont pas de simples images ; ce sont des expériences méditatives, où la réalité et le monde invisible se fondent dans des moments suspendus dans le temps.
Biographie
Alexandre Manuel est né en 1979 en Franche-Comté, à la frontière de la Suisse et de la France, et vit actuellement au Portugal.
Titulaire d'un doctorat en sémiotique visuelle (spécialisation en photographie imprimée) et titulaire du titre de professeur auxiliaire des universités obtenu par le ministère français, Alexandre a choisi de consacrer sa vie à la photographie.
Dans un style épuré, les œuvres d'Alexandre Manuel interrogent le statut et les limites du paysage. Avec des techniques de pose longue, les registres naturels mettent en évidence la tension entre l'absence et la présence, entre l'homme et sa place dans la nature, entre l'évolution naturelle du paysage et sa permanence dans nos vies.
Les perspectives, les longues expositions et les conditions atmosphériques adéquates nous permettent de créer des espaces presque purs, sereins et paisibles, dans lesquels le cadre laisse flotter notre imagination au-delà de l'horizon.
« J'essaie de créer une scène continue qui n'est pas touchée par le temps et qui n'est encadrée que par des traces de contact humain dans les structures, les rochers et les lieux maritimes. » révèle Alexandre.
