A contemporary Bulgarian artist of German heritage (b. 1970), Dmitry King holds a Bachelor's degree in Painting and Design with a specialization in Painting and Graphic Arts. His practice spans over two decades and has earned him international recognition across Europe and North America. His work investigates the threshold between the inner world of the individual and the symbolic imagery that emerges at the intersection of imagination and lived emotional experience. Working primarily in magical realist painting with elements of surrealism, he constructs visual dialogues between tangible reality and metaphorical, image-driven spaces – inviting the viewer into a deeply introspective yet universally resonant encounter. Since 2013, Dmitry King has been an active member of the Union of Professional Artists of Bulgaria (Varna), facilitating ongoing collaboration with galleries throughout the country. Since 2016, he has had a permanent collaboration artist agreement at HG Contemporary Gallery in the Chelsea art district, New York – one of the city's most prestigious contemporary art spaces – where he exhibits.
