Description
Three Blue Dogs (2022) by Inga Makarova is a large-scale contemporary figurative painting that combines expressive colour, minimal composition, and a layered psychological narrative. The work depicts three elongated canine figures rendered in deep blue tones, emerging from a shared, fluid body against a soft pink background.
The composition is built around the tension between individuality and unity. Each dog retains a distinct presence through its gaze and facial expression, yet their bodies appear to merge into a single mass, dissolving traditional boundaries between separate forms. This creates a visual dialogue that can be interpreted as a reflection on relationships, identity, or emotional proximity.
The painterly execution plays a central role in the work's impact. The blue forms are applied with visible brushstrokes and vertical drips, giving the figures a sense of movement and transformation. In contrast, the background remains relatively calm and understated, allowing the central forms to dominate the composition. The subtle presence of warm orange accents along the edges further enhances the visual tension and adds depth to the colour palette.
Three Blue Dogs is particularly appealing for collectors seeking contemporary figurative works that combine bold visual presence with conceptual nuance. Its strong composition, distinctive colour contrast, and symbolic potential make it a striking addition to both modern interiors and curated art collections.
Presentation
“To create something meaningful, something real, you should truly love what you do, as well as the way you do it, and always be passionate about it. For me art will never turn into a boring routine, as I truly enjoy transferring my thoughts and ideas into artworks." Inga Makarova
Inga Makarova is an award-winning Ukrainian painter, sculptor and draftsman. With a background in fashion and graphic design, she translates both worlds into her mixed media compositions. Inga is constantly experimenting with new themes, concepts, images, new combination of colours and forms. Lately, in addition to various sources of light (like neon or LED that are used directly in her artworks), she also started experimenting with various objects that are often quite far from art, for example sport jackets, tableware, cutlery, and even cigarette butts. Inga Makarova's desire to innovate, rather than imitate, allows her to turn even the most ordinary themes into something new, unique, and fresh, once it got reflected in her artworks.
