Description
A city is outlined under a pale sky. Architectural blocks rise with rigor. Their geometric facades are organized in juxtapositions of gray and blue.
The artist plays with the contrast of forms. Touches of ochre and light punctuate the windows. This human presence remains suggested, almost invisible.
In the foreground, dark and dense vegetation asserts itself. The foliage of a deep green partially hides the buildings. This dialogue between concrete and nature creates a visual tension.
The composition is anchored by an earthy base. Golden and brown tones structure the bottom of the painting like a mineral pedestal. This horizontal band brings material stability to the scene.
The acrylic painting on canvas allows for a precise rendering. The work on masses and colors evokes an urban solitude. The whole rests on a balance between structural rigor and vegetal organicism.
Presentation
Nora Ampova (b. 1989) is a visual artist based in Sofia, Bulgaria. She holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the National Academy of Art, Sofia (2014) and completed a postgraduate specialization in the UK in 2011.
Nora’s work explores the relationship between humans and nature, as well as themes of travel, self-sufficiency, loneliness, and isolation.
Primarily a painter, her artistic practice also extends to collage, drawing, sculpture, and digital projects.
Her creative process begins with personal experiences and emotions, often resulting in figurative compositions where the female figure, frequently a form of self-portrait, plays a central role.
