Description
A dreamlike interior unfolds through a vivid palette of deep blues and warm neutrals. Two central figures anchor the scene. Their forms are simplified and endearing. One wears a voluminous blue dress and a bright yellow bodice. Beside her, a companion in a brown garment dons a striking red cap. This bold splash of color symbolizes passion and courage.
The composition balances domestic stillness with an imaginative atmosphere. On the walls, framed glimpses of nature suggest windows into another realm. The artist uses acrylics to create a rich, tactile surface. Each stroke feels deliberate yet fluid. This artwork explores the fragile boundary between adulthood and childhood. It evokes the feeling of a half-remembered tale. The figures exist in a suspended moment of quiet companionship. The perspective remains flat and intimate. Such figures serve as gateways to a private inner world. The scene captures the innocence of youth through a mature lens. Heavy outlines define the characters against a luminous background. This figurative approach transforms a simple gathering into a timeless memory. The focus rests on the emotional resonance of the figures and their silent interaction.
Presentation
Lemoi Ning is a Taiwanese artist born in 1981 who lives and works in Taipei, Taiwan. She has embarked on a creative journey in 2021 that will bring to life the endearing characters known as “ME”. These characters, including the little red-haired girl ME and the larger-than-life Mr. Duke residing in ME's heart, served as gateways to the cherished memories and inner world of the artist's childhood.
Lemoi's artistic endeavors are rooted in the stories of "childhood home" and the tales preserved in his memory, weaving a common thread of creativity. Into the enchanting kingdom of Lemoi, inviting you to enter a world where his memories come to life. Each story from his past, with its complex and layered meanings, serves as a seed that found its way into his young heart. Over the years, this seed has undergone a magical transformation, unfolding in myriad forms, both real and imagined.
ME is the central figure of this mystical world, where the artist meticulously reinterprets each little tale of the miniature universe that is in his heart. Lemoi's works transport you to a dream village filled with fanciful wonders, reflecting the landscapes of our imagination and evoking precious childhood memories.
Yet these paintings are not without mature aspects: the main character's deep red hair carries an adult aura, giving the work a striking and evocative presence. This symbolism resonates with love, passion, anger, power, and courage, allowing viewers to connect to the paintings on a deeply personal and relatable level.
Lemoi's art demonstrates the continual growth and transformation that life entails, with each new appearance revealing the artist's evolving perceptions and experiences. In this magical world, MOI presents itself as a constant companion, reinventing the tales that have left an indelible mark in the artist's heart.
