Description
Created in watercolor, acrylic felt-tip pen, and copper metal leaf on Canson paper (A3 format), the work stages a fascinating duality: the fluid softness of the watercolor contrasts with the rigor of the black line, while the metallic flashes diffuse an organic warmth. The copper metal leaf, applied with precision, magnifies the composition while giving it a sensory, almost palpable dimension.
Each golden or coppery area captures the light differently, bringing the portrait to life according to the reflections, like an iridescent skin.
The artist masterfully plays with volumes and breaks: angular lines, areas of fracture, subtle gradients. The face becomes almost architectural, like an emotional stained glass where each fragment reveals an inner charge. The warm tones – oranges, ochres, browns – oppose the deep shadows, in a visual dynamic that is both raw and refined.
"Brute Splendor" asserts itself as an aesthetic manifesto: beauty is born from contrasts, strength emerges from flaws. The work evokes as much the influences of expressive pop art and conceptual street art as the Symbolist research surrounding portrait and identity. Here, femininity is not idealized – it is lived, vibrant, incorruptible.
Framed and ready to hang, this unique piece offers any contemporary space a singular and luminous presence. Its visual impact, its graphic richness, and the nobility of the materials make it an exceptional creation.
