Description
The artwork here, "The Journey Together Original", is a wonderful depiction of a man and boy traveling together, that is saturated with acute detail and vibrant color throughout. Making it one of the nicest paintings by Eugene Higgins we have ever made available. Also, measuring approximately 8" x 10" and 14" x 16" with the high-quality, custom frame, the immaculate artwork is of impressive craftsmanship and versatile size. This oil painting in canvas board has remained in excellent condition since being completed by Higgins. The artwork is signed in the lower right under the frame; we can reframe the artwork to showcase the signature if requested, and the work comes with a Gallery Letter of Authenticity.
Eugene Higgins's art has been exhibited in major museums and can be found in some of the most prestigious public and private collections across the globe. Every item comes with free custom framing. We have wood frames with gold, silver, black, or brown finishes to offer you. Please note that in order to preserve the quality of the artwork and condition of the frame, most items are framed at the time of purchase. If we do not hear from you regarding your framing options we will do our best to frame it in a similar style and color.
Presentation
EUGENE HIGGINS (1874 - 1958): Eugene Higgins was an American painter and printmaker known for his socially conscious depictions of working-class life and rural America. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1874, he studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts before traveling to Europe, where he was influenced by the work of Jean-François Millet and other French Realists. Higgins developed a distinctive style characterized by strong drawing, dramatic lighting, and sympathetic portrayals of laborers, farmers, immigrants, and impoverished communities. He worked in both painting and printmaking, creating etchings and lithographs that emphasized the dignity and hardships of ordinary people. His work was exhibited at major American institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the National Academy of Design. Higgins spent much of his later career in France and the United States and remained committed to portraying the human condition with directness and compassion. He died in New York City in 1958.
