Description
Morning Tulips is an original contemporary floral still life painting from 2026, an expressive figurative artwork in acrylic on paper, measuring 59.4 × 84.1 cm (23.4 × 33.1 in), inspired by Henri Matisse, modern colourist painting, flowers, tulips, nature and the emotional beauty of everyday life.
Morning Tulips is not simply a representation of flowers; it is a celebration of renewal, vitality and the quiet optimism of a new day. Natalya uses the traditional genre of the floral still life as a way to explore emotion through colour, gesture and rhythm. For her, flowers provide a natural language for expressing feelings that are difficult to communicate through words or even through the human figure.
Tulips are particularly meaningful within this idea. Associated with spring, awakening and new beginnings, they become symbols of energy, tenderness and the continuous renewal of life. Rather than reproducing the flowers botanically, Natalya allows them to become expressive forms. Their loose contours, energetic brushstrokes and intense colours convey the sensation of experiencing flowers emotionally rather than simply looking at them.
This is part of Natalya's broader artistic practice, in which familiar subjects—flowers, women, nature and domestic scenes—are transformed into expressions of inner experience. A simple bouquet can therefore become something much more personal: a moment of happiness, a memory, a feeling of abundance, or the sudden awareness of beauty in everyday life.
The influence of Henri Matisse can be felt particularly in Natalya's approach to colour and simplification. Matisse repeatedly explored flowers and still life, treating them not merely as subjects to reproduce but as opportunities to investigate the emotional relationship between colour, shape and space. Natalya similarly allows colour to move beyond literal representation. Pink, crimson, turquoise, emerald green, deep blue and luminous white interact dynamically, creating an atmosphere that is joyful, spontaneous and full of movement.
Yet Morning Tulips remains distinctly Natalya's own interpretation. Her visible brushwork gives the painting an immediate, tactile quality, preserving the gesture of the artist's hand. The flowers are deliberately expressive rather than perfect, creating a sense of spontaneity and life. The bouquet seems to grow beyond the boundaries of its container, reinforcing the feeling of abundance, freedom and an irresistible impulse toward life.
There is also a quiet contrast between the simplicity of the subject and the intensity of the execution. A vase of flowers is one of the most familiar images in art history, yet Natalya approaches it as an opportunity to rediscover something that can easily become overlooked: the emotional power of ordinary beauty. The painting asks the viewer to slow down and experience colour, light and gesture rather than simply identify what is depicted.
Morning Tulips ultimately speaks about the ability of beauty to transform an everyday moment. It is a painting about joy, renewal and presence—about that particular feeling when a new morning seems full of possibility and something as simple as flowers can suddenly make life feel brighter.

Presentation
Natalya is a contemporary french artist living in Lyon.
She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.
She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.
She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.
In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.
As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult.
Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.
She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details.
Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
