Description
"Provence Bloom" — Contemporary Abstract Floral Painting
"Provence Bloom" is an original contemporary abstract floral painting from 2026, an expressive colourist artwork in acrylic on paper, measuring 59.4 × 84.1 cm (23.4 × 33.1 in), inspired by the vibrant summer landscapes of Provence in the South of France, its abundant flowers and luminous Mediterranean light, with artistic influences from Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse and Paul Cézanne.
"Provence Bloom " draws on Natalya's personal connection with Provence, a place she loves to visit in the South of France and a landscape that has long inspired her artistic imagination. Rather than representing a specific Provençal scene, the painting translates the atmosphere of a summer day in Provence into an abstract language of colour, movement and gesture.
Flowers are at the heart of the composition, but they are deliberately removed from botanical representation. They emerge as energetic fragments of colour, organic shapes and expressive brushstrokes, allowing the viewer to sense a field in bloom without being restricted to a literal depiction of individual flowers. The subject gradually moves between floral recognition and abstraction.
The intense palette evokes the characteristic vibrancy of Provence in summer: rich reds, luminous yellows, vivid pinks, layered greens and deep blues interact across the surface, creating a feeling of heat, sunlight and abundance. Colour is not used simply to describe nature; it becomes the principal vehicle for emotion.
The painting also reflects the extraordinary artistic legacy of Provence. Van Gogh, Matisse and Cézanne each found inspiration in the South of France, responding to its particular light, vegetation and landscapes through radically personal approaches. Natalya's connection to this tradition is not about imitation, but about continuing the idea that a landscape can be transformed through the artist's own emotional response to colour and nature.
The influence of Van Gogh can be sensed in the vitality and movement of the brushwork; Matisse resonates in the freedom and intensity of the colour; while Cézanne provides a deeper art-historical connection to the transformation of the Provençal landscape into a personal pictorial language.
Yet "Provence Bloom" remains distinctly Natalya's own. Her expressive marks and saturated colours create a contemporary interpretation in which the boundary between floral imagery and abstraction remains deliberately fluid. The viewer can discover flowers, vegetation, light and landscape—or simply experience the rhythm and energy of colour.
The work reflects Natalya's broader interest in using familiar elements of nature as a means of expressing inner experience. Here, Provence becomes more than a geographical location. It becomes a sensation: warmth, freedom, vitality, abundance and the joy of being surrounded by nature.
"Provence Bloom" ultimately invites the viewer to experience Provence not through a literal landscape, but through its emotional essence—a vivid, sun-filled memory translated into an expressive abstract floral composition.
Framing:
The artwork is painted on heavyweight professional acid-free paper and is unframed.
The artwork is created in the standard A1 format (59.4 × 84.1 cm / 23.4 × 33.1 in), making it easy to frame using a readily available A1 frame.
For a contemporary gallery-style presentation, the artwork can be placed in an A1 frame with glazing, in natural wood, white or black depending on the interior. A simple A1 frame without a passe-partout can display the full artwork at its original dimensions.
The frame is not included.
The interior images showing the artwork framed are for inspiration only, illustrating different ways the artwork could be presented in an interior.
Presentation
Natalya is a contemporary french artist living in Lyon.
She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.
She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.
She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.
In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.
As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult.
Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.
She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details.
Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
