Description
Overlapping female faces, eyes, and hands create a portrait of uncertainty and choice. Instead of presenting one fixed expression, the artist layers several possible viewpoints together, reflecting the way a person may mentally examine the same situation from different angles before making a decision.
One eye is deliberately covered by a hand, symbolizing the impossibility of seeing the future clearly. The remaining eyes look outward from different positions, while hands cross and merge with the faces, making thought, hesitation, and observation part of the physical structure of the composition.
Warm peach, terracotta, dusty rose, brown, and mauve tones give the work intimacy, while the close cropping intensifies the psychological focus. The painting ultimately moves beyond hesitation toward self-awareness and the courage to choose a path without certainty.
For collectors drawn to contemporary figurative art with psychological depth, the work offers a compelling exploration of identity, perspective, trust, and the uncertainty that accompanies important choices.
Materials: Oil on linen canvas.
Shipping / Display: The artwork is sold unstretched and shipped rolled in a protective tube.
Colors & Shades
Peach, warm beige, terracotta, muted coral, dusty rose, blush pink, burnt sienna, soft brown, taupe, mauve, warm gray, charcoal, deep brown, muted orange, pale cream.
This work is suited to collectors drawn to psychologically focused figurative art, layered portraiture, and images concerned with choice, uncertainty, and self-awareness. It may particularly resonate with viewers interested in the tension between trying to predict the future and learning to trust their own judgment.
The artwork would work especially well in a bedroom, study, living room, reading room, creative studio, or contemporary office. Its warm, restrained palette pairs naturally with beige, taupe, warm gray, dark wood, linen, leather, and understated modern interiors.
Presentation
Teva Alina is a contemporary figurative artist based in Miami, Florida. She received The Best Artist award at Travel to Art World in 2023 and was invited to serve as a jury member for Travel to Art 2026 in Miami.
Working primarily in oil, Alina focuses on the female figure as a way to explore emotional states rather than individual narratives. Years of working closely with women and listening to their personal stories shaped her sensitivity to experiences of vulnerability, doubt, inner struggle, fear, and acceptance.
At the center of Alina’s practice is the belief that beauty and meaning do not have to compete. Her paintings are visually inviting, yet their emotional tension often lies beneath the surface. Rather than illustrating a specific event, she focuses on the moment when something begins to shift internally.
Her ongoing Transformation series examines periods of change that initially feel uncertain or painful but can later reveal themselves as sources of growth. Through contemporary figurative painting, Alina explores transformation from the inside, treating difficult emotional states not simply as crises, but as thresholds between one version of the self and another.
