Description
Igor Bitman Chung Yang Styling Her Hair Oil on canvas 61 x 38 cm A female figure occupies the center of the composition. The brushwork is free, and the gestures suggest a quiet intimacy. The woman, partially undressed, allows a turquoise fabric to slip off her shoulders; this touch of cool color contrasts with the paleness of her skin and the neutral background. The paint is applied with density. The background has a chalky, almost mineral quality. Outlines are sketched with precision, while shadows fade into a gradation of grays and beiges. The artist focuses on the fragility of the body and the softness of the movement. The drapery lends a fluid dynamic to the scene. The composition plays on the balance between the emptiness of the background and the model's physical presence. The technical execution reveals a mastery of drawing and nuance. The color harmony relies on the contrast between deep blue and earthy tones. A calligraphic signature marks the lower section of the canvas.
