Description
Under the trees, guests are gathered around a long table set in the open air. Some converse, others stand behind the guests; glasses and plates punctuate the table, while trunks and foliage make up a dense and bright background. The silhouettes sometimes blend into the touches of green, white and brown.
Some orange accents warm the scene and attract the eye. The composition restores the animation of a shared meal without dwelling on a particular character: it rather captures the atmosphere of a friendly moment, crossed by light and exchanges.
Presentation
Born in 1961 Jean Marie Drouet is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He likes drawing and making lot of photos before beginning a painting. He is inspired by contemporary photography and film culture that gives him an optimistic look on the world.
Referring to the American realistic painters such as N.C Wyeth or Edward Hopper, life’s scenes and characters are his favorite subjects. He is also fascinated by strong light contrasts and minimalistic settings. Sunlight is everywhere in Jean Marie Drouet paintings showing us the beautiful side of life.; his painting is quiet and bright aiming the beauty of the present time.
