Description
On a beach bathed in light, several people stand close to each other. On the left, a woman in a dark swimsuit leans towards a child; in the center, a figure in white stands out in front of other bathers. On the right, a man wearing an orange cap observes the scene, arms crossed. The blue sky occupies almost the entire background, while a strip of light sand anchors the composition. The contours remain open, as if the figures formed and dissolved in the brushstrokes. Some orange and dark touches punctuate the palette, giving this beach scene an impression of proximity and movement.
Presentation
Born in 1961 Jean Marie Drouet is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He likes drawing and making lot of photos before beginning a painting. He is inspired by contemporary photography and film culture that gives him an optimistic look on the world.
Referring to the American realistic painters such as N.C Wyeth or Edward Hopper, life’s scenes and characters are his favorite subjects. He is also fascinated by strong light contrasts and minimalistic settings. Sunlight is everywhere in Jean Marie Drouet paintings showing us the beautiful side of life.; his painting is quiet and bright aiming the beauty of the present time.
