Description
Several characters stand side by side in an open landscape, dressed in summer outfits. In the center, a man from behind, wearing a light hat and dressed in dark, stands out among the female silhouettes in light dresses and swimsuits. On the left, a person wears an orange cap; on the right, a black silhouette is cut by the edge of the painting.
The almost white background leaves a lot of space around the group. Touches of pale blue, green and ochre suggest a sunny atmosphere, while the fragmented contours give the figures a presence that is both familiar and fleeting.
Presentation
Born in 1961 Jean Marie Drouet is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He likes drawing and making lot of photos before beginning a painting. He is inspired by contemporary photography and film culture that gives him an optimistic look on the world.
Referring to the American realistic painters such as N.C Wyeth or Edward Hopper, life’s scenes and characters are his favorite subjects. He is also fascinated by strong light contrasts and minimalistic settings. Sunlight is everywhere in Jean Marie Drouet paintings showing us the beautiful side of life.; his painting is quiet and bright aiming the beauty of the present time.
