The Distance Between Light and Water (2026) is an original large abstract seascape painting by Tatiana Malinovscaia, created with acrylic on canvas.
I created this painting inspired by those peaceful moments when the boundary between sky and water seems to disappear. I wanted to capture the feeling of looking toward a distant shoreline, where light and reflections transform the landscape into something almost dreamlike.
The composition combines luminous ivory, warm white, pearl grey, sandy beige, and soft taupe with muted steel blue, slate blue-grey, smoky grey, deep charcoal, and rich earthy brown. A strong horizontal passage suggests the meeting of sky and water, while expressive vertical marks evoke reflections stretching across the surface.
Using palette knives, brushes, and layered acrylic techniques, I developed rich textures, scraped surfaces, and spontaneous details that bring depth and movement to the painting.
For me, this artwork is about the beauty of distance, quiet reflection, and the places that remain in our memories.
