Description
A dreamlike composition where time seems suspended. The gaze glides over a calm expanse of water. In the center, a strange architectural structure emerges from the liquid mirror. This circular remnant, like an open crypt, invites contemplation.
The sky, a deep blue, welcomes the organized flight of a group of birds. Their silhouettes are precisely outlined in the clear air. To the left, a bare tree stands, solitary, reinforcing the atmosphere of silence.
The original work is made with oil and acrylic, then reproduced and printed on dibond. The figurative approach flirted with surrealism to create a fantastic landscape.
The light, soft and diffuse, unifies the natural and mineral elements. Each reflection on the water's surface is worked with care. The whole exudes a melancholic serenity. The work, created in 2021, plays on the contrast between the solidity of the stone and the lightness of the animal flight.
Presentation
Born in 1953, Thierry Van Quickenborne is a French painter. He created his first painting at the age of 16. He then studied letters in Hypokhagne, and obtained a barchelors degree in history and sociology and then another barchelors degree in visual arts at la Sorbornne.
Thierry Van Quickenborne's pieces are part of a figurative universe that resembles surrealism. In his artistic language, architecture and objects occupy a preponderant place, and are an enigma and an evidence.
Since 1980, the artist participates in numerous fairs and exhibitions in France and abroad. He has participated in group exhibitions in the United States, Belgium, Germany and Japan. His work has attracted private collectors and has been sponsor by the Orly Airport and the Museum of Stadt-Buhl (Germany).
