This collection reveals the paradoxes and pretenses inherent in the failings of our society. Like a story open to our subconscious, it is woven with enigmatic symbols. Each chapter, baptized with oxymorons, intensifies the paradoxical character, accentuated by an anachronistic visual staging thus creating a striking shift.
Insane worlds reveal hidden behaviors, unacknowledged aspects, our dark side and our decline. From “erotic purity" to “immodest religion", from “unhealthy innocence" to “ugly beauty", to the disturbing notion of “human meat" – so many antagonisms that humanity exploits to this day. to the exhaustion of its last resources.
Foolish ? Human balance is discovered precisely in these contradictions which define the very essence of our nature. It is in this fragile balance that the complex web of our humanity is drawn, between shadow and light, paradoxes and realities.

This seller rewards your purchases of multiple artworks
After studying Art History and years of painting practice, it is natural that Mathilde Oscar's work is much more pictorial than photographic.
Mathilde Oscar's intention is not to capture the moment, on the contrary she makes it. Mathilde Oscar photography creates an image of any room and imagines a new story in each series. She is a storyteller, that is to say that her specialty is to tell stories. From this point of view, she differs from the photo of reporting by leaving little room for chance, because everything is studied upstream, every detail counts.
To succeed in getting a whole imaginary world out of her mind, her universe, Mathilde Oscar is obliged to completely realize all the elements which compose it: Accessories, costumes, decorations, created on measure and "handmade" for each photograph.
A world made, inspired by all times and at the same time out of time and all mediums. Escape the rules while following them, fill no box while registering, this is Mathilde Oscar's vocation.
Mathilde Oscar photography is an emblematic style of portraiture.
