Presentation

1954 Jean-Marie Guiny was born on May 3 in Versailles. 1974 Student at Jules Ferry high school, beginning of his first animal drawings in Indian ink. Studied copperplate engraving. 1975 first artistic event at the Salon “Souvenir de Corot” in Viroflay where his drawings were noticed. 1976 Executes his first lithograph for Michelle Broutta editions. Signs an exclusive publishing contract with the art company Jaques Boulan, a Parisian publisher, for the execution of 10 drypoint engravings. First exhibition in northern Norway. He goes to Spain to see the horses of the peninsula. Lover of horses, he returned to Portugal to study Andalusians and other Lusitanian horses. The many trips to the Camargue, covered in summer and winter, will inspire the artist on the themes of the horse and the bull. Rider for 13 years, traveling the Camargue, he will enjoy high school dressage in clubs in the Paris region. Guiny also makes some theater posters. Higher education diploma. 1977 Upon his return from national service, carried out as a teacher in the air force, he embarks on engraving, and will then be edited, exhibited, by various French and foreign publishers. 1979 Takes part in various French and foreign exhibitions. Executed a lithograph for Kunstpublik in Germany. The work in drypoint and aquatint remain major in his engraved work. 1980 Recently married, he buys a house in the countryside, his studio expands and he signs engraving contracts with Sery, Minerve, Effa, in Paris. Since then, his works have been exported; he performs an engraving for Japan, editions DE FRANCONY. 1985 Edits large prints in mixed technique (drypoint and Carborundum) for JBF distributed in Germany and Japan. Execute an engraving for the Ministry of Culture on the theme of mind games. Works with major European distributors: The “Book Club” and the “Lire et voir” company (NEF). 1987 Signs a worldwide publishing contract with "Forum des Arts", exclusive publisher. Begins his painting in large format. 1988 Travel to Guadeloupe from which three abstract engravings will be born at the Carborundum. 1989 After working with classical methods in oil painting, he looks for new inspirations: Nudes, colorful, then floral themes. Edits his first flowers for Japan and Taiwan in mixed media. Exhibition of paintings in Saint-Paul de Vence. Pass the milestone of 100 engravings published worldwide. 1990 Work in the largest Parisian workshops, alongside Miro, Tobiasse, Papart, Boni, Coignard, Miotte, Alechinsky. 1991 Edition of engravings enhanced by hand by the artist, or by the stencil technique. Innovates the line technique in painting. Execute his first sculpture in clay and plaster. 1992 First major personal exhibitions of his paintings in France. 1993 Exhibition in eastern France. Preparation of sculptures. Works with wax and refines the technique of bronze foundry and patina. 1994 Preparation of a bibliophile book on venery for the Club de la Chasse (Hôtel Guénéguaud) in Paris. Marketing of his bronze sculptures in Europe. 1996 Edition of 6 animal sculptures + DELMAS Prize 1997 Various exhibitions in France and abroad. 2000 Publishing contract: L'ESTAMPE / more than 250 editions. 2001 Edition of 100 sculptures (horses, bulls, wild animals) aficionado, he rides in Turkey and Tunisia, rubs shoulders with fighting bulls.
