Born in 1979. France. Lives and works in Paris (France).
With a CAP in art bookbinding, a lightning-quick journey in art university and the school of Beaux-Arts (Paris) where she spent no more than two weeks, mad meg, whose biggest influence is the universe of Jérôme Bosch, never knew how to contain her Stakhanovist work ethic. After filling a remarkable number of little sketchbooks and spending weeks observing and drawing in museums, she has, since 2001, been developing a universe of realism anchored in autobiography and feminist commentary. Drawing on often very large-format paper with thin “Sergent Major" fountain pens and Chinese ink, her creative process flirts with psychotic need – a need supported by the little amount of sleep necessary to the artist. She minutely works the appropriation/revisitation of the foundational masterpieces of western academic culture and uses historically important literature as inspiration, texts which she often includes on the canvas in their entirety as texture. In each work, conscious and referential discourse always accompanies spectacular pictorial execution.
