Legend of a time when graffiti had no commercial significance. O'CLOCK has never exhibited his graffiti in a gallery. His various past exhibitions have always been carried out via substitutes (photographs – judicial seals – installations, etc.).
Reluctant to write his name on a canvas - this having little meaning for the one who did it illegally - and at a time when street-art is "in fashion", boasting an iconography on the back tastes of pop-art and comics that turns indigestible – O'CLOCK took 15 years to write his tag on a work of art.
It is through a series of bas-reliefs that the artist succeeded in giving meaning to this project.

Presentation
O'CLOCK was born in 1976, he lives and works in Paris.
Originally from the Parisian suburbs, he discovered Graffiti at the end of the 80's.
His first tags under this nickname appeared in 1995 in Paris and its suburbs. He is often considered one of the most productive and inventive taggers/graffiti artists in the history of graffiti in France.
“I don't like immobility and recipes that work. I like to take risks, scare myself. When I express myself there is a great deal of improvisation and renewal depending on my mood, the support and the place. I like to improvise, to trust my instincts. Feel the atmosphere, assess the urgency of the situation and adapt my ideas to it. Of course, I have simple and effective classics but I prefer not to repeat the same tag or the same piece too often indefinitely, I need to renew myself, above all I like surprise, change, novelty, the confrontation with the unknown and danger, my alibi being graffiti.”
It therefore has the particularity of being where it is not expected, whether in the styles or in the locations chosen, all associated with a frantic pace. Multidisciplinary, it puts its protean signature on all media: streets, metros, trains, trucks, tunnels, roofs, highways, etc. He devotes himself to other projects
artistic always closely or remotely linked to graffiti. Personal and collective exhibitions in France and abroad will reflect his sensitivity, his knowledge and his involvement in the matter most of the time through installations using photography, video, different explicit objects brought together, painting, sculpture… He tackles the problem of graffiti without really “showing it”, leaving the technical, aesthetic and pictorial part aside at first.
The graffiti is ultimately only an alibi at the start in this process. His desire is to rather highlight the mysterious submerged part of the "Graffiti" iceberg. Talk about the reasons that led her to practice it, her desires, her motivations, her context, in order to understand with time and the necessary hindsight, the very essence of this devouring passion, her personal origin. To make a catharsis in short at first to be able to serenely approach in a second time his true "work" of graffiti-artist.
First of all, to pierce the mystery of the problematic of the alter ego, of the pseudonym, of anonymity, of adrenaline, of the ephemerality and of this need to impose one's tastes, one's choices, through one's actions. All these unanswered primordial and essential questions often remain unaddressed and this creates regrettable amalgams and misinterpretations even though graffiti is increasingly present in galleries and museums. Illegality being the sine qua non and "legitimate" condition of Graffiti, the background and the form in harmony so that it "comes to life", therefore all its meaning...
