Jacques Tenenhaus was born in Paris in 1947. He belongs to the generation of artists born just after the Second World War who will participate in the renewal of ideas in 1968. After having taken the Charpentier course in Montparnasse, in 1965 he was a pupil of the painter Goetz. In 1971, he obtained a license in philosophy. In 1974, he created a painting and ceramics workshop for children and adults. At the same time a painter and watercolorist, Jacques Tenenhaus devotes himself to sculpture. His first stone work dates from 1969, it is a self-portrait "face of a teenager". In many of his works, the sensual forms and exaggerated features herald the style of later works. The 80s are important for the evolution of his style. He begins to work the land. Her work around the couple seeks to represent the limits of a fusional romantic relationship. Of the body, only the associations remain: face-hand, face-barter and face-arm-hand. The series of "Gastropods" illustrates this idea. From the "Gastropods", Tenenhaus will always try to translate his hidden emotions into sculpture into sculpture. The idea of the work like the title only comes after the realization. 1986 is the time of the "Peelings", research work in order to get to the point. After a total stop in his work from 1989 to 1998, Jacques Tenenhaus returned to sculpture. He made a large number of works in bronze. After the fusion of the couple, he now seeks to show the beginning of a relationship that is woven. Often, the artist's works depict him as well as the important stages of his life to share his emotions with us. In this regard, her latest works such as "La Grille" are quite explicit, she reveals to us a being whose speech is a prisoner.
