Prima che l'ondata di graffiti colpisse New York in rovina negli anni '70, Darryl McCray aka Cornbread stava già facendo notizia sui giornali locali di Filadelfia. Viene spesso descritto come il primo scrittore a ripetere il suo pseudonimo negli Stati Uniti, 6 anni prima che il New York Times dedicasse un articolo all'enigmatico Taki183, nel 1971.
