About the artist:
Simon Procter was born in Lancashire, in the north of England. He grew up in Royston, a small mining village in South Yorkshire. He studied fine arts for many years, specializing in painting and sculpture. He is an influential photographer who shoots commercials for a wide range of high profile clients including: Chanel, Dior, Nike, Reebok, Speedo, Adidas, Nokia, Hastens, Marriott, Mont Blanc, Falke. Since his first exhibition at Miami Basel in 2008, Simon Procter has become one of the most sought after photographers of his generation. His works are held in prestigious collections and museums around the world. In 2015, Simon founded Orcadia Film, a film production company. Simon lives between Paris, New York and a farm in northern France.
About the artwork:
It was freezing inside the Grand Palace. Chanel had presented all guests with a beautiful monogrammed blanket and a small monogrammed vacuum flask filled with jasmine tea. I was impressed. The parade was superb. The models, one by one, circled the arena and then disappeared inside the gigantic 60-foot white tower: Karl walked out with the bride and everyone cheered. But the tower began to move. There was a collective gasp as the outside of the tower slid down to reveal all the models, posing perfectly on a giant spiral staircase. It was the first time I saw the fashion audience, usually so cold-blooded, surprised.

The reason behind Simon Procter's’ unique approach comes from his background. He studied painting for many years and holds a BA (Honors) degree in Fine Art from the prestigious Trent University of Nottingham. This wider training has given him a certain edge.
