Description
This abstract composition explores the meeting between earth and water. The artist precisely combines oil, acrylic, and resin to create a tangible relief.
The eye travels through shades of deep blue and turquoise. These hues evoke the transparency of the seabed and the movement of currents.
At the bottom of the canvas, a gray and textured band anchors the image. It suggests a rocky coastline or a steep coast.
Fragments of material emerge on the surface, like isolated islets in an abstract ocean. The resin brings a shine that captures the natural light.
The work on the material transforms the landscape into a sensory experience. The balance between smooth areas and rough areas paces the visual reading.
The whole exudes a contemplative serenity. The color palette remains centered on cool and mineral tones.
This piece dated 2020 testifies to an in-depth research into natural elements. The contrast between liquid blue and solid gray defines the structure of the painting.
Presentation
Liora is a painter and was born in 1965 in Paris, she lives and works in London. She grew up in Reuilly in the 12th arrondissement, known for its artisan feel, and was introduced to the world of art from a young age.
Her first years as an artist gave her the required sensitivity and understanding to practice her art. Splitting her time between London and Nice, her life is a source of inspiration and motivation as part of her artistic process.
The colour black is omnipresent in her abstract work. Liora also uses grey, red and blue along with black to confront life and death, light and dark. Her works are far from plain or neutral: she also produces silver paintings and golden canvases. Yet, they always maintain a balance which profoundly affects the observer and his or her emotional state, allowing him or her to take shelter and to be comforted. She creates a variety of textures by using a range of techniques. Vertical lines and circular marks sometimes evoke natural elements : trees and stamens, for example.
