Description
A profound sense of introspection permeates this composition. The figure sits enveloped in heavy folds of green and yellow fabric. This stillness suggests a deep internal dialogue. The artist draws from physical theatre to explore the human form. Bodily movement becomes a silent language. Every brushstroke reflects a study of posture and presence. The encounter between the subject and the surrounding space feels intimate.
A vibrant palette of cerulean and cobalt defines the interior. These cool tones contrast with the warmth of the seated form. Mixed media techniques enhance the tactile quality of the surface. Oil and acrylic merge with charcoal and pastel. This layering adds emotional weight to the scene. The background remains blurred and atmospheric. It hints at a domestic setting without defining it strictly. The narrative focuses on the fluidity of the mind. Freedom is expressed through the relative positioning of shapes and colors. The artwork captures a momentary pause in a larger human story. Light filters through the composition in erratic patches. This creates a rhythmic tension across the canvas. The final impression is one of quiet solitude and psychological depth.
Presentation
Sa Hara is a Korean artist born in 1975 who lives and works in Seoul, South Korea. She is graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration at Dongguk University. Through Physical Theatre, the artist explores how characters reflect one another, expressing freedom and imagination through bodily performance. With a keen interest in the movement of the human body, observations are transformed into unique works that convey the unrestricted freedom of the mind. Each work contains a narrative, featuring characters and networks of relationships. These relationships are not confined by social or legal structures but instead reflect a worldview of relative freedom. Using the non-verbal language of bodily movement, the characters perform as if on stage, reflecting each other, becoming aspects of one another, and giving rise to thoughts and actions, thus existing through each other and forming the whole. The artist draws inspiration from human movement, real-life stories of relationships, fictional novels, and videos on Instagram and YouTube. Plants, books, music, dance, and various forms of art also provide intellectual stimuli, which are combined with imagination to create the works.
