Description
A deep blue rhythm, quietly unfolding.
Created in 2025, Blue Waves is a unique oil painting by Lea Richelieu. Its ultramarine palette draws attention to a richly worked surface, where flowing ridges and repeated undulations create a balance between sculptural texture and visual restraint.
Meticulous brushstrokes build fine relief across the canvas. Subtle reflective highlights appear along the raised passages, while deeper blue shadows emphasise their contours. As light changes, different details come into focus, giving the painting a presence that rewards sustained observation.
The composition evokes the continuity of waves without fixing the viewer to a literal landscape. Repetition establishes its rhythm; variations in the painted surface give that rhythm depth. Colour, gesture and material remain closely connected.
Blue Waves belongs to Richelieu's personal approach, Relaxing Abstraction. Through layered oil paint and measured movement, she explores harmony, softness and emotional clarity.
