Description
The composition centers on a single eye surrounded by layered indigo, violet, blue-gray, and charcoal tones. Directional brushstrokes pull the face across the canvas, making the figure appear to shift and merge with the surrounding space.
The human figure becomes a means of exploring instability and perception. Some areas remain clearly recognizable, while others dissolve into painted passages and overlapping marks, creating a portrait that feels deliberately unsettled rather than fixed.
Small accents of green, pink, and warmer tones break through the predominantly cool palette, while the eye remains the strongest point of focus. Its concentrated presence gives the viewer a stable point within an otherwise fluid composition.
For collectors drawn to expressive figurative art and psychological themes, the artwork offers a compelling balance between portraiture and abstraction, with a strong emphasis on movement, perception, and spatial uncertainty.
Materials: Oil on canvas.
Shipping / Display: Ready to hang. The artwork is shipped in a protective box.
Presentation
Yuriy Khudov is a contemporary artist. Trained in furniture design and artistic woodcarving, he spent 13 years in the film industry as an art director, concept artist, and 3D modeler before shifting his focus toward figurative painting and drawing. His background also includes visual merchandising and work on the creation and restoration of wooden crosses on the Solovetsky Islands.
Yuriy's practice marks a deliberate move away from digital precision toward ambiguity, physical texture, and expressive gesture. Working across oil painting, drawing, and mixed media, he explores psychological states that exist between clarity and dissolution. Female figures often emerge from darkness or appear suspended between dream, memory, and physical presence. Rather than using color and light to describe reality, Yuriy employs them to create emotional tension and stillness. Unfinished forms, visible brushwork, and disrupted surfaces allow the image to remain open, shifting between recognition and abstraction.
