THE COLOR OF HER SILENCE
Inna Pupina
2023 · Acrylic on canvas · 50 × 40 cm

A quiet profile holds a vivid world of colour.

In The Color of Her Silence, Inna Pupina places a female face between two expansive neutral fields: warm beige on the left and flowing white hair on the right. This restrained setting draws attention toward the concentrated colours within the profile.

Pink, coral, lime yellow, green and lavender occupy interlocking shapes defined by dark outlines. The nose, lips and chin remain recognisable, while the internal divisions move toward abstraction. Colour gives the face a layered emotional character, inviting the viewer to consider the relationship between outward stillness and inward feeling.

The white hair forms a sweeping curve through the composition. Fine raised lines follow its movement, bringing a delicate tactile rhythm to the pale surface. These details reward closer observation without disturbing the painting's clarity.

The title offers a poetic reading of the portrait. Silence becomes a space that can hold thought, sensitivity and imagination. The work leaves these meanings open, allowing each viewer to approach the figure through their own experience.
