Description
The close-up portrait shows a woman, her eyes closed, her face tilted and an arm raised above her head. His expression seems peaceful or absorbed. The light cuts its features into beige and ocher patches, while dark and light wicks cross the face. The tight framing almost makes the bottom disappear. Free touches of white, yellow and brown fragment the figure and give the scene an impression of intimacy, like a silent moment seized at rest.
Presentation
Born in 1961 Jean Marie Drouet is graduated from the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He likes drawing and making lot of photos before beginning a painting. He is inspired by contemporary photography and film culture that gives him an optimistic look on the world.
Referring to the American realistic painters such as N.C Wyeth or Edward Hopper, life’s scenes and characters are his favorite subjects. He is also fascinated by strong light contrasts and minimalistic settings. Sunlight is everywhere in Jean Marie Drouet paintings showing us the beautiful side of life.; his painting is quiet and bright aiming the beauty of the present time.
