Description
A striking staging captures the fleeting moment of daily life. The image freezes a dog mid-flight, suspended in the void of a domestic room. The sudden movement contrasts with the relaxed posture of a man sitting on his sofa. This black and white shot plays on the surprise and absurdity of a banal situation.
The grain of the photograph emphasizes the authentic atmosphere of the 1990s. The setting, composed of a patterned wallpaper and a dark rug, anchors the scene in a concrete reality. The composition guides the gaze from the static subject towards the raw energy of the animal.
Shot in 1990, this photograph uses a high-definition print to preserve every technical detail. The artist explores the unpredictable within family intimacy. The wide framing encompasses the open doors and the simple furniture. The whole forms a precise visual narrative about the light chaos of the home. This work is presented in the form of a digital photographic print.
Presentation
Internationally renowned photographer, Nick Danziger has dedicated his work to communities in the four corners of the world, particularly in Central Asia, Africa, and America. He has worked for international organizations such as UNESCO or the International Red Cross, and has gone to meet peoples sometimes totally unknown to the rest of the world. His approach goes far beyond the scope of photojournalism: it is the very essence of the people he photographs that he seeks to capture and fix on film.
