Description

This photograph captures the fleeting moment of an urban explosion of joy. Two silhouettes are precisely outlined against a hazy, monochrome background. The movement is captured in all its spontaneity. On the right, a body rises, arms spread wide, crossing a jet of water that fragments into a thousand droplets. On the left, a second figure seems to be running, carried by the energy of the scene.
The image plays on the contrasts and reflections of the wet ground. The composition emphasizes the lightness of the bodies against the heaviness of the urban frame. Every technical detail accentuates the sensation of coolness and freedom. This scene of daily life transforms a banal moment into a rigorous graphic composition.
The work is presented in the form of a high-definition print made in 1990. The grain of the image and the handling of grays bring an timeless depth to this shot. The diffused light envelops the subjects in an almost dreamlike atmosphere, typical of the author's view of the world. The final rendering highlights the purity of the gesture and the fluidity of the water.

Presentation

Internationally renowned photographer, Nick Danziger has dedicated his work to communities in the four corners of the world, particularly in Central Asia, Africa, and America. He has worked for international organizations such as UNESCO or the International Red Cross, and has gone to meet peoples sometimes totally unknown to the rest of the world. His approach goes far beyond the scope of photojournalism: it is the very essence of the people he photographs that he seeks to capture and fix on film.
