Description
A solitary light cuts through the darkness. This shot captures the moment where urban lighting asserts itself against the shadow. The graphic composition relies on a marked contrast. The lamppost, placed in the foreground, guides the eye towards the background. There, a small white building seems to watch in the nocturnal silence.
Minimalism directs the scene here. The artist plays with geometric precision to suggest a human presence without ever exposing it. The sobriety of the lines creates a serene and contemplative atmosphere. The interplay between deep shadow areas and points of white light structures the image.
The photographic approach is inspired by impressionism to translate a pure emotion. The rigor of the framing reinforces the architectural aspect of the view. This photograph, taken in 2020, is presented in HD print form. The technical rendering ensures precise sharpness of the contours and a depth of blacks.
Presentation
Jean-Louis Corpron lives and works in Billière, near Pau (south of France).
Artistic approach. Impressionism, graphic design, and minimalism are at the heart of his approach, which aims to translate as faithfully as possible the emotion felt towards a subject. He explores the architecture and the plays of shadow and light with geometric precision. His streamlined compositions often show night scenes or serene interiors, like solitary lighthouses, where the human presence remains only suggested.
He received the Jury Prize in 2021 in Moliets-et-Maa (Landes).
