Description
Abstraction is expressed here by a rigorous play of contrasts. Against a neutral background, dark shapes float with an apparent lightness. The gesture is fast. It is precise. Black ink spots and brown shades structure the space.
The composition oscillates between spontaneity and control. A horizontal line stabilizes the whole. It anchors the scene and guides the eye. The fills and the voids dialogue. The balance arises from this visual tension.
Aquatint brings a subtle depth to the surfaces. The grain of the paper emphasizes the texture. This technique allows for delicate gradients and deep blacks. The result is a study on rhythm and silence.
This printmaking, created in 2017, belongs to a limited series. Each mark testifies to a strong graphic intention. The final rendering favors an elegant sobriety. The chromatic balance rests on the opposition of white, black, and an earthy brown.
