Description
Raised to Win is an embroidered edition by KPE Innocent. Against a light gray sky crossed by a small cloud, a streamlined figure stands like a monument: a round terracotta-colored head, a light triangle as a face, resting on a dark, vertical bust.
KPE Innocent's compositions combine simple geometric shapes and stylized figures, in a surreal and silent vein. The title evokes a generation raised to win, straight and sure of itself, but also alone in an almost empty setting.
In embroidery, the blocks become surfaces of oriented thread that capture the light, and the sphere takes on a real volume.
Limited edition of 20 copies, signed, delivered on a frame with certificate of authenticity. Embroidery made in Lyon in the VANGART workshop, labeled Living Heritage Enterprise. 50 × 35 cm.
Presentation
Kpe Innocent (born 1994), a self-taught visual artist, strives to create works that resonate with people around the world by incorporating themes of love, grace, and hope, and by speaking about the conditions that affect us as human beings. Incorporating pop culture references, for example the Nike sportswear logo, into his works is a way of capturing the globalized world and representing the commonalities of the entire human race, regardless of geographical boundaries. or sociological, because ultimately we all have the same fears and we all hope for better things.
Kpe's paintings are primarily done in acrylic on canvas, and he infuses his interest in minimalist design and aesthetics (with an emphasis on negative spaces and shapes) into his traditional painting practice. The paintings are adorned with muted, earthy colors, and the abstract figures are rendered in black and white (with a tendency toward the shade of gray). These figures are most often isolated (to represent our natural state of individuality).
