Marie Amédro offers us the fragments of a discourse made up of a burst of shapes, colors and materials that respond to each other according to a well-established geometric principle.
Picking up from the current of geometric abstraction, which she links to an ecological sensitivity, Marie Amédro draws her main source of inspiration from trees. It was a reading that sparked this curiosity about trees: The Secret Life of Trees, by Peter Wohlleben. From this reading were born the first geometric sketches. “The inner workings of the tree make me think of a flawless organization, which is why I like to play with shapes, symmetry and verticality to create. But shapes have little meaning without color. The combination of the two brings the final touch to the works: the idea of movement, energy and vitality. I also use collage to highlight the bark of the tree which protects the sap from the external environment. This is how she poetizes the secret life of trees by revealing their fragile, intelligent and mysterious side which breaks with the image of strength and vigor that sticks to their bark!
To respond to her ecological awareness, she uses recycled materials in her plastic creations: wooden panels, sand... Her apparently minimalist works carry a story full of meaning. “I love elegance in art. I like that the lines are perfectly straight, that the shapes are correctly identifiable and that the colors do not fight to find their place on the canvas. But I also need my works to not just look good. I need them to be the mirror of an idea or a story and to arouse the curiosity of the spectator by inviting him to interpret. »
