Presentation
Born in Beirut in 1952, Haibat Balaa Bawab received her BA in Fine Arts in 1975 from Beirut University College (now LAU) and has taught there for 17 years. From 2001 until 2022, she has been the Fine Arts Coordinator and instructor at the American University of Science and Technology (AUST).
This exhibition focuses on a series of Mixed Media Collages and Oil Paintings that reflect a range of current subjects, memories encountered in day-to-day life, which are reflections of topical issues and moments.
Haibat’s process in these Mixed Media Collages involves making papers from textures and motifs that she prepares using different media and techniques. They are multimedia in form, still dominated by Collage themes.
Haibat Balaa Bawab has had multiple solo exhibitions and has participated in several collective exhibitions in Lebanon, Grand Palais de Paris, and many Arab countries. In 2019, she was invited and participated in the 8th Biennale in Beijing. A monograph of her work entitled: "Haibat Balaa Bawab The Art of Collage" was published in 2012.
