"Roger Dale's gaze is absolutely straight. He fixes, with the physical and philosophical concentration of a Zen archery shooter, the real. He only fixes that - which is everything. Roger Dale's hand does not tremble not, does not deviate, does not betray: it obeys. With a remarkable science, it submits by conforming to the sensation which the eye registers and transmits to the brain. And here is this point - and only him, because all that who is around remains unclear - that precisely determined portion of space appears there on the canvas. A glass, a bottle, the face of the painter or that of a friend (whatever the subject, only the painting!) Without the slightest concession or indecision, the portion of reality captured is not a reconstruction, nor a photographic document, nor of hyperrealism, nor of expressionism, nor of idealism, nor of surrealism, nor of academicism, nor romanticism.

Roger Dale's painting is that of a moralist. In our world of factitiousness, derision and doubt, this is something new and very strong. "

Art critic "The latest news from Alsace" and professor at Decorative Arts in Strasbourg
