Biografia
Crash o John Matos, è un artista di graffiti nato nel Bronx l'11 ottobre 1961. È uno dei maggiori protagonisti della "Aerosol (R)evolution".
Inizia Graffiti a giovanissimo sui treni di New York prima di esercitarsi su tela.
È entrato a far parte della galleria Sidney Janis nel 1983 prima di entrare nelle più grandi collezioni del mondo al MOMA di New York e allo Stedelijk Museum di Amsterdam.
Si presenta al grande pubblico coproducendo con Keith Haring campagna pubblicitaria, Peter Stuyvesant. Divenne noto in Francia partecipando alla mostra 5/5 Figuration Libre, Francia-USA al Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris nel 1984. Questa mostra mise in risalto il lavoro di artisti come Basquiat, Boisrond, Combas, Keith Harring, Tseng Kwong Chi, Di Rosa… e John Matos Crash.
In uno stile vicino ai fumetti, sempre con colori sgargianti specifici della pubblicità, si affermano come un puro prodotto del mondo contemporaneo. Fanno parte del lignaggio perfetto della Pop Art e ancora una volta elevano questa presunta sottocultura al rango di "grande arte".
